*For over a year the Burning Wiki has been little more than a catalog of '''Burns which had been cancelled or postponed'''. But - ever so slowly - the tide is turning. You can see glimmerings of green shoots in the [https://burningwiki.com/wiki/Burns_%26_Burners_Worldwide Burns and Burners page]. Remember that the items in the list are sortable simply by clicking on the heading at the top of any column there. Of course, as always, remember that the situation can change rapidly and do your own research before booking travel etc.

==Status of the Burning Wiki==
+
= Connect with the Wiki =
This wiki was launched on the 15th of March 2017, it is in 'stage 0'. It has not been promoted or shared widely in any burn communities yet as it should have a little more content and structure first, it needs to create a good first impression.

The Burning Wiki started in New Zealand, so it is currently very Australasia-centric. It doesn't have to be.

== Getting started ==

A getting started guide is still being worked on, the red links below (page doesn't exist) are page holders.

I am testing whether storing administrative documents here is a good idea by adding some of Blazing Swan's documents and asking those who make and those who use these docs to comment.

Probable pros:
+
*'''Follow us on Facebook.''' You can keep track of the latest updates and leave comments and messages on our [https://www.facebook.com/Burning-Wiki-100681494611347/ '''Working on the Burning Wiki facebook page'''].
* Standardised formatting - docs are easier to make and read (some may feel this limits creativity, but I think they'll be okay)

* Centralised location - with all/most docs in one place they'll be easier to find and link together

* Version control - wikis have excellent version history and tracking

* Collaboration - wikis are designed as a collaboration tool, passing documents as volunteer roles change is trivial

* Accessibility - wikis are easier to use (that pdfs) on desktops, mobile, and with screen readers

Highlights

Shouting Fire is an independent, international broadcasting collective, born on the playa and inspired by Burning Man. It is an open source, non-commercial community radio station operated entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to the free flow of information and to spreading art and culture.

Shouting Fire's website which includes many great links, scheduling information and their live stream can be accessed here.

Burning Wiki's list of Burner inspired broadcasts, podcasts, virtual events and forums can be accessed here

Burn2 is an Burning Man Regional Virtual space that was - like Shouting Fire - born on the playa and inspired by Burning Man. As our Burning community explores the possibilities of virtual connection in this COVID crisis who better to turn to for advice that the people who have been doing it since 2003. I'd like to particularly draw your attention to Burn2's very useful hints and links in their Pandemic Toolkit.
For more Burner inspired broadcasts, podcasts, virtual events and forums, check out the Burning Wiki's page: The Mediated Burn.
